1 Taking Ludo Online
We all grew up playing games such as Ludo and Pachisi on a cardboard board. We would roll the dice and try our best to avoid getting sent back to the start by any of our opponents. While it is a great game to play with friends and family, it does require three other people to be in the same room as you.
We wanted to bring this game to life and recreate it exactly how we wanted while also including extra features. With Jungle Dice we are bringing you the exact same fun we had while growing up, but instead we only need an internet connection.
We spent a few months developing the network code to make sure the game feels as smooth as playing with others in the same room. You can challenge whoever you want at anytime making it perfect for short 10 minute breaks.
2 Luck or Skill?
There are many board games that require only luck in order to win. Either you roll and move in the right way and win the game, or you move poorly and lose. We wanted to change this.
For that reason we have introduced the Score-Based Mode into the game. As a result, you do not have to rush towards the finish anymore as you earn points with each turn you take. In addition, you can even take the points of other players by sending them off from the board, and become very competitive! In case you want to be safe, you can try to avoid other players and not lose any of your points.
As Score-Based Mode is limited by time, you have to make the correct moves during the game in order to win. This way, even the best players have a chance to beat those who are luckiest. It is incredible how quickly this game can end!
3 Creating a Community
It's fun playing individually but nothing can compare to the fun of beating up other people's teams with your team. We have implemented Clan System, where users can join clans, communicate, and develop strategy together.
Every Times we conduct enormous Clan Events, when every point earned during any match contributes to the overall pool of points of the clan. This makes entire game an enormous tug-of-war for top positions.
Those clans which utilize communication channels, coordinate their playing times, and help new players always manage to get the best prizes. It is amazing to see how completely random players from different parts of the world come together and beat everyone at every events.
4 Keeping Things Fair
Nothing is more detrimental to a competitive game than cheaters, those that seek to exploit the system for monetary gain or other personal reasons. We realized this on the first day of development, so we made sure that our application would be virtually “dumb.” The client (or the application on the user’s device) does not process any requests or make decisions. Instead, each time a user hits the “roll” button, their request is sent to our secure Node JS backend. There, a cryptographic random number generator produces the result, and the client later receives it from the server.
In addition, if a user tried to hack their client to get a six every time, our server would detect the intrusion and add their account to a permanently banned list.
Meanwhile, scripts on our end monitor the “win trade” feature to ensure no users can exploit its occurrence at unreasonable hours. We wanted to ensure they can have an equal opportunity to roll and trade.
