1 Taking Ludo Online
We all grew up playing games such as Ludo and Pachisi on a cardboard board. We would roll the dice and try our best to avoid getting sent back to the start by any of our opponents. While it is a great game to play with friends and family, it does require three other people to be in the same room as you.
We wanted to bring this game to life and recreate it with exciting new features. With Jungle Dice, we are delivering the same nostalgic fun, but now, all you need is an internet connection.
We spent months optimizing our network code to ensure the game feels as smooth as playing in person. You can challenge anyone at any time, making it perfect for a quick 10-minute break.
2 Luck or Skill?
There are many board games that require only luck in order to win. Either you roll and move in the right way and win the game, or you move poorly and lose. We wanted to change this.
For that reason we have introduced the Score-Based Mode into the game. As a result, you do not have to rush towards the finish anymore as you earn points with each turn you take. In addition, you can even take the points of other players by sending them off from the board, and become very competitive! In case you want to be safe, you can try to avoid other players and not lose any of your points.
As Score-Based Mode is limited by time, you have to make the correct moves during the game in order to win. This way, even the best players have a chance to beat those who are luckiest. It is incredible how quickly this game can end!
3 Creating a Community
It's fun playing individually, but nothing compares to the thrill of competing as a team. We've implemented a Clan System where users can join forces, communicate, and develop strategies together.
We regularly host massive Clan Events where every point earned in a match contributes to the clan's overall score pool. This turns the entire game into an epic tug-of-war for the top leaderboard positions.
Clans that utilize communication, coordinate their playtime, and help new players always secure the best prizes. It's amazing to see players from different parts of the world come together to dominate these events.
4 Keeping Things Fair
Nothing is more detrimental to a competitive game than cheaters, those that seek to exploit the system for unfair advantages or other personal reasons. We realized this on the first day of development, so we made sure that our application would be virtually "dumb." The client (or the application on the user's device) does not process any requests or make decisions. Instead, each time a user hits the "roll" button, their request is sent to our secure Node JS backend. There, a cryptographic random number generator produces the result, and the client later receives it from the server.
In addition, if a user tried to hack their client to get a six every time, our server would detect the intrusion and add their account to a permanently banned list.
Meanwhile, scripts on our end monitor matchmaking patterns to ensure no users can exploit the system. We want to ensure all players have a fair and equal opportunity to play and compete.
